Stacked clear acrylic A4 file boxes on the production line

A4 file boxes stacked after forming, before packing

An acrylic file box is a clear PMMA holder for A4, letter-size or legal documents, used on desks, shelves and in retail as a premium alternative to PP and PS office products. AcrylicFabWorks, the acrylic division of SinoPlastix, makes acrylic file boxes, file holders, magazine files, paper trays and desk organizers to a brand’s design in Suzhou, China: sheet is cast, cut, bent or bonded, finished and packed in one plant. Production starts at 20 pieces per design, samples take 48 hours and production 7 days from an approved drawing, and orders ship in cartons on pallets for sea or air freight.

Sizes

Paper sizes to design the inside around

Paper Sheet size Where it is used
A4 210 × 297 mm Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Australia
US Letter 8.5 × 11 in (215.9 × 279.4 mm) United States, Canada, parts of Latin America
US Legal 8.5 × 14 in (215.9 × 355.6 mm) United States legal and government documents
A5 148 × 210 mm Notebooks, brochures, menus

Design the inside around the paper or folder plus a clearance so documents slide in and out without catching; folders, sleeves and ring binders need more room than loose paper. If one product must take both A4 and US Letter, size the width for Letter (215.9 mm) and the depth for A4 (297 mm). We confirm inside dimensions at drawing review.

What buyers specify

The four things that decide the price and the look

  • Bent or bonded. A body line-bent from one sheet has fewer joints and repeats fast in volume; a bonded box allows sharp square corners and internal dividers. Many products combine both. See bending and thermoforming and bonding.
  • Edge finish. Laser-cut edges come off the machine polished; diamond-polished edges look like glass and cost more. Agree the standard once and it repeats on every run. See polishing.
  • Colour and branding. Clear, frosted or coloured sheet; logos by screen print, UV print or applied graphics. Send the artwork with the sheet colour.
  • Packing. Protective film left on, individual bags or boxes, and the cartons and pallets your warehouse or retailer requires. Packing is written into the quotation, not decided at shipping.

How an order runs

From sample to repeat order

Step What happens
1. Brief Drawing, photo or competitor sample; paper size; colour; logo; quantity per design; packing and destination
2. Drawing review Inside dimensions, bend radii, joint positions and edge finish agreed on paper
3. Sample Sample made in 48 hours from approved drawing and sent for approval
4. First article First production pieces checked against the approved sample; cut files and jigs locked
5. Production and packing Made, inspected and packed to the agreed carton and pallet specification
6. Repeat order Same files, jigs and finish standard, so the reorder matches the first batch

Straight talk

The limits, stated up front

  • Acrylic only. We make these products in acrylic (PMMA). We do not make PP, PS or PVC file boxes. Hinges and magnetic closures can be fitted; wood and fabric parts are outside our scope.
  • Factory, not a shop. We are a factory in Suzhou, China, making to a brand’s or importer’s design. We do not sell single units or run a retail catalogue.
  • Acrylic scratches more easily than glass. Protective film stays on until the product reaches your customer, and care instructions can go in the box. See removing scratches from acrylic.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask before ordering

What is the minimum order for custom acrylic file boxes?

Production starts at 20 pieces per design or specification. Pre-production samples are quoted separately and are made in 48 hours from an approved drawing.

What size should an A4 acrylic file box be?

A4 paper is 210 × 297 mm, so the inside of the box is designed around that plus a clearance for the paper, folder or binder it will hold. If the product must take both A4 and US Letter, size the width for Letter (215.9 mm) and the depth for A4 (297 mm).

Can you put our logo on acrylic desk organizers?

Yes. Logos and graphics can be screen printed, UV printed or applied as graphics. Send vector artwork and the sheet colour so the print is proofed against the actual material.

Is a bent or a bonded acrylic file box better?

A body bent from one sheet has fewer joints and repeats quickly in volume; a bonded box gives sharp square corners and allows internal dividers. The choice depends on the design, and many products use both.

Can you copy an existing product or a competitor sample?

Send the sample or photos with dimensions. We draw it, flag anything that would crack or misalign in production, and quote the drawing for your approval.

Are acrylic file boxes with lids better for document storage?

A lid keeps dust and light off documents and lets boxes stack, which suits archive and shelf storage; an open file holder is quicker for files in daily use. A lid on its own does not lock, so documents that must be secured belong in a lockable cabinet.

What makes a good acrylic file holder for office use?

Inside sizes that fit the folders actually used (A4 or US Letter), walls thick enough not to flex when full, laser-cut or polished edges that do not catch paper, and a stable footprint so a full holder does not tip.
