Black, red and white acrylic, cut and screen-printed

Colored acrylic sheet is cast PMMA with pigment or dye added before casting, so the colour runs through the full thickness rather than sitting on the surface. We supply black, white, opal, transparent tinted and opaque coloured grades, plus single- and double-sided frosted sheet, in 2–30 mm and full sheets of 1220 × 2440 mm or 2050 × 3050 mm. Exact shades are confirmed against a physical sample or the quoted grade, because the same colour reads differently at 3 mm and at 10 mm.

Getting the colour right

How to specify a coloured acrylic sheet

  • Send a physical sample if you have one. A RAL or Pantone number is a useful reference, but acrylic is a different substrate and a translucent colour changes with thickness. A sample in your thickness removes the guesswork.
  • Say whether it is front-lit or backlit. A tinted or opal sheet that looks right in daylight can look darker, patchy or a different hue in front of LEDs. Tell us the light source and distance and we match for that condition.
  • Fix the colour before you order volume. We record the approved sample and grade against your part number, so a repeat order is checked against the same reference.
  • Name the thickness for every colour. Coloured grades run 2–30 mm, but not every shade is cast in every thickness. The quotation states which thickness and colour it assumes.

Where coloured acrylic is the wrong choice

The limits, stated up front

Coloured cast acrylic is not a paint system: once a batch is cast, its colour cannot be adjusted, and two separate batches can differ slightly. If your project needs one exact shade across many deliveries, plan one larger batch or approve a sample per batch. Dark and saturated colours absorb more heat in direct sun, so outdoor parts need fixings that allow for movement.

Evidence and verification

  • Colour is approved against a physical sample or the quoted grade; the approved reference is recorded against your part number for reorders.
  • Material certificates, a certificate of conformity or a batch COA can be supplied per order on request.
  • Sheet sizes, thickness ranges, MOQ and capacity on this page are company-declared by AcrylicFabWorks, the acrylic division of SinoPlastix.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about coloured acrylic

What colours of acrylic sheet do you supply?

Black, white, opal and light-diffusing white, transparent tinted colours, opaque colours, and single- or double-sided frosted sheet. Exact shades are confirmed against a sample or the quoted grade.

Can you match a Pantone or RAL colour?

We use the reference as a starting point, but the final match is made against a physical sample in your thickness, because acrylic and printed swatches do not read the same. If a colour is not held as standard, we confirm whether it can be matched and the batch quantity before quoting.

What thickness is coloured acrylic available in?

Coloured, black, white and frosted grades are supplied in 2–30 mm. Not every shade is cast in every thickness, so the quotation names the thickness and colour it assumes.

What is the minimum order for coloured acrylic sheet?

Standard full sheets are quoted from 10 sheets. Cut panels and machined parts start at 20 pieces per design or specification.

Is black acrylic the same colour on the cut edge?

Yes. The colour is cast through the sheet, so sawn, routed and polished edges show the same colour as the face.
