Buying acrylic sheet or fabricated acrylic parts from China for the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand or Vietnam: preferential-origin certificates, ports, tropical heat and humidity, and what to put on the order.
Reply within 12 hours · production from 20 pieces per design
For acrylic from China into Southeast Asia, the paperwork step that saves the most money is the certificate of origin. Under the ASEAN–China Free Trade Area (ACFTA, certificate Form E) or RCEP, Chinese-origin goods can qualify for lower duty in ASEAN countries, but only if the right certificate comes with the shipment. Ask for it on the order and let your customs broker choose which agreement to claim. The other three points are practical. Tropical sun and heat mean cast sheet and allowance for thermal movement. High humidity means storing sheet flat and dry before fabrication. And short sea legs make delivered pricing easy to compare.
Country quick reference
| Country | Main container ports | Origin certificate to ask for |
| Philippines | Manila, Cebu | ACFTA Form E or RCEP |
| Singapore | Singapore | Usually not needed for duty; confirm with your broker |
| Malaysia | Port Klang, Penang | ACFTA Form E or RCEP |
| Indonesia | Tanjung Priok (Jakarta), Surabaya | ACFTA Form E or RCEP |
| Thailand | Laem Chabang | ACFTA Form E or RCEP |
| Vietnam | Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City | ACFTA Form E or RCEP |
Rates, product rules and certificate requirements are set by each country and change over time. Your customs broker confirms the classification (PMMA sheet usually falls under 3920.51) and which agreement gives the better rate.
Heat, sun and humidity
- Cast sheet outdoors. Cast acrylic holds up well under strong UV; see acrylic UV resistance outdoors.
- Thermal movement. A 2000 mm panel grows about 4 mm for a 30 °C rise (typical coefficient for cast acrylic, 7 × 10⁻⁵ per °C). Slot holes and leave gaps in frames.
- Service temperature. Keep panels below about 80 °C in continuous use, which matters for dark tints in direct sun; see acrylic temperature limits.
- Humidity. Acrylic absorbs a little moisture. Sheet stored damp can bubble when it is heated for bending, so store it flat, filmed and dry.
- Protective film. Remove it soon after installation; film baked on in the sun is hard to peel.
What we supply, and what we do not
AcrylicFabWorks, the acrylic division of SinoPlastix, supplies Calypto cast acrylic sheet and fabricated acrylic parts from one ISO 9001-certified plant in Suzhou, China. The sheet is cast on our own line at 135 tonnes a month, in 1–30 mm. Full sheets are quoted from 10 sheets; cut panels and parts from 20 pieces per design. Samples take 48 hours and production 7 days from drawing approval. We have no office, stock or installation team in Southeast Asia. Ask for the origin certificate with the quotation, and we confirm it before the order is accepted. We work in acrylic only.
FAQ
Do I need Form E to import acrylic from China into the Philippines or Malaysia?
To claim the lower ACFTA duty rate, yes; RCEP is an alternative. Ask for the certificate with the shipment and let your broker choose which agreement to use.
Does acrylic hold up in tropical climates?
Cast acrylic handles UV and humidity well. Allow for thermal movement, keep dark panels below about 80 °C, and store sheet dry before heat-bending.
